Charge sheet against 6 finalised over Avijit murder

Law enforcers have finalised a charge sheet accusing six people in the case filed over murder of writer and blogger Avijit Roy.            

Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Chief Monirul Islam made the disclosure at a press briefing at DMP media centre in the city on Monday.        

The charge sheet has been sent to the Home Ministry and it will be submitted to the court after getting the ministry's approval, he said. 

Ansarullah Bangla Team leader and sacked military officer Major Syed Ziaul Haq is one of the accused in the murder case.

Five other accused are Mozammel Hossain alias Saymon, Abu Siddiq Sohel alias Sakib alias Sajid, Arafat Rahman Siam alias Sajjad, Shafiur Rahman Farabi and Akram Hossain Abir alias Adnan.

On February 26 of 2015, US-based Bangladeshi blogger Avijit Roy was murdered near the Teacher-Student Centre of Dhaka University by a gang of assailants in an attack that also left his wife severely wounded.
