Verdict on 5 Netrokona 'Razakars' Thursday

The International Crime Tribunal (ICT) will deliver the verdict of five suspected war criminals of Netrokona including fugitive Abdul Khalek Talukdar on Thursday.    

The three-member tribunal, led by its Chairman Justice Md Shahinur Islam, set the date on Wednesday.

The prosecutors Mohklesur Rahman Badal and Sabina Yesmin Khan Munni moved for the state today. 

The hearing of this case has been ended on January 28, said Sabina Yesmin Khan Munni adding that the judges today set Thursday for delivering their judgment.

The accused are: Sheikh Abdul Mazid, 66, Abdul Khalek Talukdar, 67, Kabir Khan, 70, Abdus Salam, 68, and Nur Uddin, 70.

On April 19, 2017, the tribunal framed seven charges including murder, abduction, rape, arson, looting, and torture against the five alleged razakars of Netrokona.

On May 22, 2016, the prosecution filed a formal charge sheet against the six alleged razakars of Netrokona for their crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971 as one of the accused -- Abdur Rahman, 70 -- died at hospital after being arrested in the case.
