Minimum Fitra fixed at Tk 70

This year's minimum Fitra, a charity donation by well-off Muslims at the end of Ramadan, has been fixed at Tk 70 per person.

The maximum Fitra has been set at Tk 1,980, said Mohammad Nizam Udin, assistant director of Islamic Foundation.

The Islamic Foundation fixed the amount on Thursday at a meeting chaired by Hafez Maulana Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and president of the National Fitra Fixing Committee.

The amount has been fixed considering the market prices of flour, dates and other essential items.

Last year, the minimum Fitra was Tk 70 while the maximum was Tk 2,310.
