Youth held over rape, murder of minor girl in Wari

Police have arrested a youth in connection with a case filed over the killing of minor girl Samia Afrin Saima after rape in Wari of Dhaka. 

The youth, Harun ar-Rashid, was arrested from Cumilla on Saturday night, Abdul Baten, additional commissioner of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said on Sunday noon.

Harun confessed of killing the seven-year-old girl during primary interrogation, said Abdul Baten adding that the accused also said that he commit the crime alone. 

The body of Samia was found hanging on Friday in an empty flat of the building's 8th storey where her family lived in. 

Later, Abdus Salam, father of the victim, filled a case with Wari Police Station accusing several unknown persons. 

Meanwhile, forensic examinations yesterday revealed that Saima was raped before she was killed.
