Lt General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed made Bangladesh Army chief

Lt General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed has been appointed as the new chief of the Bangladesh Army.

The Ministry of Defence made the disclosure in a notice on Thursday saying that Ahmed, the current quartermaster general, will serve as the army chief for three years, beginning from June 24.

Ahmed, who succeeds the current army chief, Gen Aziz Ahmed, will also be promoted to the rank of general before taking up the post.
