100% success couldn’t be achieved: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that something went wrong while performing his duties. 

“I couldn't achieve 100% success, it's failure. There were many casualties in the election, it could not be controlled,” he said at the farewell press conference on Monday.

"We have tried our best to be impartial," the CEC said, adding that “I have tried to abide by the rule of law, not in anyone's words.”

The tenure of the Election Commission is five years as per the Constitution. Today is the last working day of the term of the current commission which was sworn in on February 15, 2017.

The process of forming a new Election Commission (EC) is already underway.
