Half bus fare: Students leave road with bus owners’ assurance

The students, who were protesting in Banani of the capital demanding half bus fare, have left the road at 2.30 pm on Tuesday with the assurance of the bus owners.

Mofizur Rahman, Councilor of DNCC Ward No. 19 told the students on Thursday afternoon that the rational bus fare will be decided after sitting with the owners, teachers, students and parents at Banani Vidyaniketan.

Before that, the students of Banani Vidyaniketan blocked the road in front of Banani Post Office demanding half pass for buses.

Along with students of Banani Vidyaniketan School and College, students of various colleges and universities also participated in the movement.

The students complained that the authorities are not charging half fare in the circular buses plying on the Gulshan-Banani-Natunbazar road. But every day about a thousand students travel this way. The fare is Tk30 for this two and half kilometer distance.
