3 motorcyclists killed in Palashbari road crash

Three riders of two motorcycles were killed when a passenger bus collided with the bikes at Palashbari in Gaibandha on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway at around 9 am on Monday.

Palashbari Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Anishur Rahman confirmed the deaths of three people.

The deceased are - Vidyut Sarkar, (42) son of Badsha Mia of Kairpara village of Palashbari upazila, Subhas Chandra, (35) son of Ganesh Chandra of Mirzapur village, and Suman Chandra (35) son of Subhas Chandra of Abhirampur village of Gobindganj upazila of the district.

Eyewitnesses said, "A bus of Barkat Paribahan was going towards Rangpur from Dhaka. On the way, the bus hit two motorcycles at Chaumatha junction. Later, the out-of-control bus collided with an oncoming cargo truck."

Locals rescued three motorcyclists in a critical condition and took them to the health complex where the doctor in charge declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Palashbari Police Station Masud Rana said that the driver escaped but the bus and the truck are in police custody.
