Body of man missing for 50 days found buried 10 feet under neighbour’s kitchen

Police have recovered the body of an old man named Awlad Hossain, 60, who had been missing for 50 days in Sirajdikhan, Munshiganj. 

The body was recovered buried about 8 to 10 feet deep in the soil of the kitchen of a merchant in Baira Khair, next to his house.

The Sirajdikhan police recovered the body on Tuesday night. 

The incident took place in Chainpara village of Jainsar union of the upazila. The deceased Awlad Hossain is the son of the late Farid Sheikh of that village.

Family members said that Awlad Hossain went missing on May 9. Later, his brother Abdul Awal Sheikh filed a case with Sirajdikhan police station on May 23. After his disappearance, the family members searched for him in all possible places for a long time. 

The news of his disappearance was also spread on social media. But he was not found anywhere. 

Later, based on important information during the investigation, the police conducted a raid and recovered the body of Awlad Hossain from about 10 feet below the ground in the kitchen of the Bepari’s house in Baira Khair.

According to police and local sources, Awlad Hossain had married twice in his personal life. In addition, there was a dispute between them over property. Initially, it is believed that this incident could have happened due to these disputes.

The police have arrested four people on charges of involvement in the incident. The arrestees are Manik Bepari, 40, son of Kaikobad Bepari of Chainpara village; Bin Amin, 36, son of the late Haji Idris Ali; Ripon, 30, son of Momin Ali; and Saiful Islam, 38, son of the late Gaffar Mia of Rajendrapur village in Rangpur district.

Sirajdikhan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Alauddin said, “Four people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. Initially, I think that this murder may have happened due to a dispute over money, gold ornaments and property. However, the investigation is underway. The real secret and details of the incident will be revealed soon.”
