‘Sraboner Megh Gulo…’ singer Beauty Rani Paul named best teacher of Sylhet district

Beauty Rani Paul, headteacher of Pithaitikar Government Primary School in Fenchuganj Upazila, has been selected as the best teacher at the district level in Sylhet. 

She came into the spotlight after a video of her singing the song ‘Sraboner Megh Gulo Joro Holo Akashe’ went viral on social media last July.

In a letter signed by Sylhet District Primary Education Officer Sakhawat Ershad, the list of four best teachers selected at the district level was published last Monday. 

Apart from Beauty Rani Paul, the list includes Md. Jamal Uddin Laskar, headteacher of Jahiriya Government Primary School in Sylhet Sadar Upazila; Mossammat Nurjahan Begum, headteacher of Adampur Government Primary School in Osmaninagar Upazila; and Adri Rani Das, assistant teacher of No. 1 Chowdhurybazar Government Primary School in Golapganj Upazila.

Beauty Rani Paul is a former student of the English Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. She has been serving as the headteacher of Pithaitikar Government Primary School for a long time.

After her video singing ‘Sraboner Megh Gulo Joro Holo Akashe’ spread on social media last July, it sparked both praise and criticism. 

Although she initially faced an awkward situation, teachers and people from various professions later stood by her. 

During a visit to Sylhet around that time, the State Minister for Education also spoke in her favour.
