Police cordon off 'militant den' in Jessore

Police cordoned off a house in Ghop Central Road area of Jessore district town early today suspecting it a militant hideout.

Superintendent of Jessore police (SP) Anisur Rahman said their personnel cordoned off the house in the area around 2:30am responding to a secret tip-off about the presence of presumed militants there, reports BSS.

The teams of Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), Bomb Disposal Unit and Anti-Terrorism Unit reach the spot from Dhaka soon after the anti-terrorism operations will begin, he said.

SWAT suspected that the militants are staying in the house and police are barring people, including journalists, from entering the area, he added.

House owner Haider Ali, a school teacher of the area, said a man identifying him Moshiur Rahman Sagor rented a flat of the three-storied building and he has been living in the flat with his wife and two children.
