Bus plunges into ditch killing 5 in Khulna

A passenger bus plunged into a roadside ditch in Khulna’s Dumuria upazila on Thursday killing at least five people and injuring about 14 others. 

The road mishap took place on Khulna-Satkhira highway in Boratia area under the upazila around 12:30pm. 

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Habil Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station, said the Khulna-bound passenger bus veered off the road and fell into the roadside ditch when its driver lost control over the steering, leaving five people dead on the spot and 14 others injured. 

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Khulna Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said. 

The injured have been taken to a local hospital, added the OC.
