102 Yaba traders surrender to police in Teknaf

A total of 102 Yaba traders, who have been kept at a police safe house, formally surrendered to police on Saturday. 

The surrender programme began at Pilot High School ground in Teknaf at 11:00am in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan as the chief guest while Inspector General of Police Dr Javed Patwary as a special guest.

The Yaba traders also deposited 3.50 lakh Yaba tablets, 30 firearms and 70 rounds of bullets.    

Around 44 people were killed in gunfights with law enforcers or rivals in Cox’s Bazar since the crackdown against drugs began on May 15 last. Of them, 40 were killed in Teknaf alone.
