90 charged with killing, arson at Gaibandha Santal village

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted a charge sheet against 90 people in a case filed for killings of three people and torching of Santhal houses in Gaibandha's Gobindaganj upazila in 2016.
The charge sheet was submitted before the court of Gobindaganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Partha Bhadra on Sunday.
Former Sapmara Union Parishad Chairman Shakil Akhand Bulbul and union parishad member Shah Alam are among the charge-sheeted accused, according to PBI.
On November 6, 2016, three Santal men were killed and 27 people, including nine policemen, injured following a clash with law enforcers and workers of Rangpur Sugar Mill in Gobindaganj upazila.
The clash broke out when workers of Rangpur Sugar Mills along with police went to Bagda Farm area to reclaim land of the sugar mill allegedly occupied by the Santal community.
