2 killed as train rams truck at Gazipur level crossing

At least two people were killed and two others injured after a train rammed into a truck at a level crossing in Gazipur early Sunday.

The accident took place around 4:00am at the level crossing in Dakshinkhan area under the Gazipur City Corporation.

The dead were identified as truck driver and his assistant. Police, however, could not provide their details. 

Sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam, in-charge of Tongi Railway Police Outpost, said that a sand-laden truck broke down at the level crossing. Later, Dhaka-bound intercity Maitree Express train from Kolkata crashed into the truck, leaving one dead on the spot and three others injured. 

Another died on the way to hospital, he said adding that the two other injured persons were sent to hospital.
