NCP issues show-cause notices to Nasir, Hasnat, Sarjis, Tasnim, and Khaled for Cox’s Bazar trip on August 5

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has issued show-cause notices to five senior leaders for traveling to Cox’s Bazar, missing the July-August uprising anniversary events in the capital. 

The leaders include Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, Chief Organiser (North) Sarjis Alam, Chief Organiser (South) Hasnat Abdullah, Senior Joint Member Secretary Tasnim Jara, and her husband, Joint Convener Khaled Saifullah.

On Wednesday, NCP Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat signed the notices, which highlighted that the leaders failed to inform the party’s political council or any relevant individual about their Cox’s Bazar trip in advance. 

They have been directed to provide a written explanation to NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain in person.

The five leaders made headlines yesterday for vacationing in Cox’s Bazar, skipping the July Declaration ceremony at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.

 Rumors surfaced about a meeting with former US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas during the trip, which the group denied. 

Nasiruddin clarified to the media, “The claim of a meeting with Peter Haas is baseless and a rumor.” 

He described the trip as a “personal visit.”
