3G, 4G data services restored

The 3G and 4G mobile internet is back after a 10-hour blackout ahead of the December 30 national election. 

According to the sources of mobile service providers, the data services restored around 8:00am on Friday following a directive from telecoms regulators. 

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Thursday night asked all the mobile phone operators to suspend the 3G and 4G data services across the country ahead of Sundays’ election.

The move came following instructions from the Election Commission to slow down the mobile internet speed.
