I know nothing: Raushan Ershad

Challenging the today’s presidium meeting of the Jatiya Party (JP), leader of the opposition in the parliament Raushan Ershad has said that this meeting is illegal and there is no possibility to quit the cabinet.


“I know nothing about the presidium meeting,” Raushan Ershad, also a presidium member of the party, told journalists at her parliament office on Sunday.

“I will draw my reaction in this regard after being informed from the party that which decisions have been taken at the meeting,” said Raushan Ershad, also the wife of JP Chairman HM Ershad.  

Earlier this noon, a meeting of the presidium members of the party has decided to quit the cabinet. The meeting, presided by party chief HM Ershad, was attended by 24 out of the 37 presidium members. The other 13 including, Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad, did not attend.

The presidium members who were present at the meeting gave power to Ershad for setting up time of quitting the government, party’s newly appointed Co-chairman GM Quader said while briefing media after the meeting.

“Most of the presidium members of the JP have given their opinions to quit the government as a primary step of the party for sake of the country’s politics,” Quader told reporters after the presidium meeting at its Banani office in Dhaka.

The meeting also took decision that the council of the party will be held on April 16 this year.

The full presidium meeting of the party was held after 26 months.  April 24, 2015, presidium meeting of the party ended after 15 minutes of starting because of pandemonium.
