Arrest warrant issued against SI Ratan

Finding authenticity of complaint on sexual harassment of a female private university student in the capital, a court here has issued arrest warrant against Adabor police stations' sub-inspector (SI) Ratan Kumar Halder.
Dhaka Women and Children Repression Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed passed the order on Tuesday.
The order was given after taking cognizance of judicial probe report.
Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Juducial Magistrate Sheikh Hafizur Rahman submitted the probe to Dhaka Women and Children Repression Tribunal 4 on February 10. The report recognized SI Ratan's involvement with the 'sexual harassment' of the university girl true.
After being a case filed, Dhaka Women and Children Repression Tribunal 4 Judge Saleh Uddin Ahmed ordered a judicial probe on February 1.
SI Ratan was suspended on January 31 in connection with assaulting the female university student sexually.
On February 01, the victim, a first-year student of ASA University, filed a case against SI Ratan.
The student told the court in her complaint that SI Ratan and two police constables stopped her rickshaw in front of Japan Garden City on January 31 (Sunday) when she was on her way to a bookstore at Nurjahan Road and started accusing her of being a Yaba peddler.
The victim also alleged that the policemen then confined her to a nearby electronics shop, searched her purse and harassed her sexually.
SI Ratan, on the other hand, said that he had met the victim at the police station when she had gone there in the past in connection with her husband’s case.
