'Dr Wazed to inspire new generations'

Renowned nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr M A Wazed Miah (Sudha Miah) will continue to inspire new generations through his multi-dimensional human virtues, honesty and patriotism.

 

Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi said this today after placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in his birthplace village of Laldighee Fotehpur under Pirganj upazila in observance of his 75th birthday, reports BSS.

 

Later, floral wreaths were also placed at the grave of Dr Wazed Miah on behalf of the Dr Wazed Research Institute (DWRI) of BRUR and 'Jananetri Parishad' in observance of the birth anniversary of the nuclear scientist of international repute.

 

The VC along with the teachers and officials of BRUR observed one-minute silence and offered Fateha and munajat there seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of Dr Wazed and well being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and their other family members.

 

Registrar of the university Muhammad Ibrahim Kabir, Proctor (In-charge) Md Shahinur Rahman, Heads of Departments, teachers, officials and employees were present.

 

Professor Nabi, also a noted population scientist, said he personally knew Dr Wazed as a person free from greed and he dreamt for building a technologically developed Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

 

He termed Dr Wazed as a rare talent and incomparable patriot with dedication, affection and excellent human qualities and he paved the way for the development of science education and research work in the country.

 

He said the nation will always remember contributions of Dr Wazed and suggested the students and young generations to follow the ideals, patriotic zeal and honesty in building an economically and technologically developed Bangladesh.
