Priest murder: 3 suspects remanded

A Panchagarh court has placed three suspects on a 10-day remand in a case filed in connection with the murder of a Hindu priest in Debiganj upazila.

Besides, the court also granted another five-day remand for them in a case filed under explosives act in the same incident.

Those who were placed on remand are: Khalilur Rahman, 55, Babul Hossain, 28, and Jahangir Hossain. All of them are the residents of Debiganj.

On Monday, police arrested the three suspecting their involvement in the murder of the priest in Panchagarh’s Debiganj upazila.

Earlier on Sunday, assailants hacked the 50-year-old Hindu priest Jogeshwar Roy, who headed the Santo Gaurio temple, to death.

Another priest named Gopal Chandra Roy sustained bullet injury in the same attack. Now, he is being treated at Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Jogeswar's elder brother Rabindranath Roy filed the murder case with Debiganj Police Station accusing three unknown people. Mojibur Rahman, Sub-Inspector (SI) of the police station filed the other case.
