JS session begins April 24

The tenth session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) begins on April 24 at 5 pm.

 

President M Abdul Hamid summoned the session exercising the power bestowed upon him according to clause (1) of the article 72 of the constitution, said a handout today, reports BSS.

 

The session was summoned to fulfill the 60-day procedure of the constitution. The duration and proceedings of the 10th session will be finalized at parliamentary business advisory committee meeting, to be chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on April 24 afternoon.

 

Earlier, the ninth session of the current 10th parliament began on January 20. The session passed nine bills during the total 27 working days. Side by side with making laws, a total of 285 notices under Rule 71 of the Rules of Procedure were received and, of them, 15 were accepted and three notices discussed in the House.

 

Movers of 60 notices got the opportunity to speak for two minutes each under Rule 71 (a) of the Rules of Procedure.

 

A total of 300 questions were received for the Prime Minister's question-answer time and she responded to 89 including the supplementary ones.

 

Besides, a total of 4,922 questions were received for ministers and state ministers question-answer time and ministers and state ministers responded to 3,444 including the supplementary ones.
