Khaleda gets bails in 5 cases

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia secured bail in five cases including an arson attack case and Gatco graft case after she surrendered before the respective courts in Dhaka this morning.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed bail for the BNP chief in the arson attack on a bus at Jatrabari in the city last year after she surrendered before it and sought bail.

On the other hand, Judge Abu Ahmed Jomadar of Special Judge Court-3 passed the order after she surrendered before it seeking bail in the Gatco corruption case.

Judge Md Jakir Hossain Tipu of the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court granted bail to Khaleda in a sedition case filed by a Supreme Court lawyer for her derogatory remarks on the number of Liberation War martyrs.

Court of Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam granted bail to Khaleda in a case filed with the Gulshan Police Station while Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Maruf Hossain’s court gave bail to her in another case filed with the Jatrabari Police Station.

A vehicle carrying her arrived on the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-3 premises around 10:30am today.

Hundreds of leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies welcomed her on the court premises while she is accompanied by Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Khaleda’s personal assistant, and several other women leaders.

Around 9:20am, Khaleda started from her Gulshan residence to appear before the court, Sayrul Kabir Khan, media wing member of Khaleda, told media.

Earlier on March 30, a Dhaka court issued warrants for the arrest of Khaleda and 27 BNP-Jamaat men in the case over the arson attack at Jatrabari in the city during the BNP-led 20-party’s blockade.
