Tarana Halim receives death threat

State Minister for Posts and Communications Tarana Halim has received death threat from unidentified miscreants, reports UNB.

A young man riding a motorcycle came to the gate of Tarana Halim’s Gulshan residence on Wednesday night with a gift box, said her public relations officer Enayet Hossain.

Claiming that Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy sent the gift box for the junior minister, he requested the on-duty security guard to receive it, Enayet said.

As the guard refused to receive the gift box, the youth gave it to his hand asking him to hold on until he checks for his motorcycle, the PRO said, adding that when the guard took the box, he ran away riding the bike.

He said a note, a shroud and perfume were found after unwrapping box, and the note reads: “Now it’s your turn, get ready to die.”

A general diary was lodged on behalf of the state minister in this connection, said Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station.
