Shafik Rehman’s residence raided, documents seized

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has raided the residence of detained journalist Shafik Rehman in a case filed for alleged attempts to abduct and murder Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.

CID seized some documents while raiding the pro-BNP intellectual’s Eskaton residence on Tuesday noon.

Md. Monirul Islam, Chief Additional Commissioner of DMP’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, said these at DB office on Minto Road.  

Shafik Rehman confessed of holding several meetings with the people who are suspected to be involved in a plot to abduct and kill Joy, he said.

Shafik Rehman, also an advisor to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, was arrested from his Eskaton residence last Saturday. Latter, he was placed on a five-day remand by the court.
