9th wage board: BFUJ calls for movement

Leaders of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Friday called for declaring immediately the ninth wage board for journalists and employees of the media industry.

 

The leaders made the call from an executive council meeting of journalists' body in Bogra, reports BSS.

 

"The media staffs are passing dire socio-economic condition because of the hike in the commodity price after the new pay scale for the government service holders," they said.

 

Conducted by BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque, the meeting was addressed by its former president Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, vice-president Monotosh Basu, treasurer Madhusudan Mondal, joint secretary general Omiya Ghatak Pulak, Tapan Chakrabarty, GM Sazal, Mozammel Haque Hawlader, Dhaka Union of Journalists' (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud and its general secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, among others.

 

The leaders also urged all people concerned for extending helping hands for the journalists in observing their duty and not to create any hindrance. 

 

The meeting also decided to hold election in the third week of July to the position of BFUJ president.
