Karwan Bazar market fire doused

The fire that erupted at Hasina Market in the city’s Karwan Bazar area on Sunday evening has been doused.

The fire broke out at the market, a depot of fruit and groceries behind Janata Tower on the Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, around 8:00pm, Fire Service official Ataur Rahman told Samakal.

The fire came under control at around 9:45pm, said the Fire Services and Civil Defence officials who were deployed here to put out the blaze.

No casualties were reported while the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained, said Ataur Rahman adding that 22 fire fighting units bring the flames under control.

A trader, however, said everybody ran away after the fire erupted out while all the goods in his shop have been burnt to ashes.
