Kuwaiti PM in city

Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah arrived here on Tuesday on a three-day official visit at the invitation of his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina, reports the UNB.

 

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister and his entourage landed at Hazarat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:09 pm.

 

During his visit, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister will pay a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid, and hold a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

 

He will also join a banquet to be hosted by his Bangladesh counterpart.

 

The two Prime Ministers are expected to exchange views on various bilateral, multilateral and regional issues, including increasing cooperation in trade and investment, manpower and defense sectors between the two nations.

 

After the PM-level meeting, three agreements relating to enhancing Kuwait’s investment in Bangladesh, increasing military assistance and simplifying VISA procedures for diplomatic and official passport holders will be signed.

 

Besides, the Kuwaiti Prime Minister is scheduled to place wreaths at National Mausoleum in Savar to pay tributes to martyrs of the Liberation War and visit Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum in the capital's Dhanmondi area.

 

He is also expected to visit Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and witness its session there.

 

His entourage includes Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah, Finance and Oil Minister Anas Khaled Al-Sabah, Education Minister Dr Bader Hamad Al Eissa and high officials of different ministries.

 

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister will leave Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.

 

In February 2010, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Kuwait when four agreements on cultural promotion, joint commission, economic and technical cooperation, and tourism promotion were signed between Bangladesh and Kuwait.
