Mirza Fakhrul granted bail

A Dhaka court has granted bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in an arson case filed with Paltan Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Nur Nabi passed the order on Monday responding to a bail petition filed by the BNP leader.

Earlier in the day, Mirza Fakhrul appeared before the court and filed the bail petition.

Earlier on 18 June 2015, the High Court granted his bail until the submission of charge sheet in the case.

On May 3, police submitted two charge sheets against BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 42 others in the case.

Sub-inspector Tobibur Rahman, who is the investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheets to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court under the Explosive Substances Act.

On December 29, 2014, the case was filed with Paltan Police Station on charges of creating violence in front of BNP Naya paltan office by exploding crude bombs.
