Khaleda charged for Darussalam arson attack

Police have pressed charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and 26 others in two cases filed over the arson attacks in Dhaka's Darussalam last year.

Darussalam police submitted the charge sheets with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka on Wednesday.

In the change sheets, Khaleda has been shown as mastermind of the attack. Police also appealed to the court to issue arrest warrant against the accused.

The others accused include Amanullah Aman, Sarufuddiin Shofu, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, Syeda Ashifa Ashrafi Papiya and Maruf Kamal Khan.

Two separate cases---one under penal code and another under Explosive Substances Act-- were filled against the accused for vandalising and setting fire to a minibus in Gabotoli during the hartal enforced by the 20-party alliance on March 3, 2015.
