BGB, BSF will jointly investigate border killings

Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will conduct joint investigation into border killing and other violent incidents, BGB Director General Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed has said.

“We are trying to bring down border killing to zero level,” said the BGB DG while briefing to reporters after signing the Joint Record of Discussion (JRD) of the BGB-BSF conference at the BGB headquarters in Dhaka.

He noted that both sides reached an agreement during the conference that if incidents like border killing take place, there will be joint investigation.

“If any incident takes place, our people will go to BSF’s side, similarly BSF will come to our side to carry out investigation so that we will be able to know from both sides what actually happened,” he said.

“We will invite Indian journalists to visit our area to see the activities of BGB, and similarly our journalists will be invited by BSF,” he said.

Earlier a 5-day Director General-level conference between the Bangladesh and India border security agencies began on Thursday in Dhaka.

A 21-member Indian delegation, led by the Director General (DG) of the Border Security Force (BSF) of India Shri KK Sharma took part in the conference.

A 23-member team, led by the DG of BGB Maj Gen Aziz Ahmed represented Bangladesh in the conference.

The conference ended today with the signing of the Joint Record of Discussion (JRD).
