24 killed as cyclone Roanu hits coast

Several dead after cyclonic storm, 'Roanu' hits coastal areas- Samakal
At least 24 people from Chittagong, Bhola, Patuakhali, Laxmipur and Noakhali districts have died including mother-son because of the cyclonic storm, 'Roanu'.
15 people, including a schoolboy and a mother were killed in Chittagong and separate other areas of the division, three in Bhola, one in Laxmipur, one in Feni and one in Patuakhali while three others in Noakhali.
The dead were identified as- Kazal Begum, 50; her son Belal Hossain, 12; Md Rakib, 11; Abu Siddique, 55; Bulbul Akter,57; Jalal Ahmed, 38; Hossain Ahmed, 7; Fakir Alam, 50; AK Fazlul Haque, 54; Md Iqbal 25 in Chittagong and Rekha Begum, 35; Akram, 14, son of Md Mofiz while Renu Bibi in Bhola and Nur Alam from Feni while two others from Patuakhali and Laxmipur, reports our correspondents from the districts.
Local OCs and other administration sources confirmed the deaths to Samakal.
Our Noakhali correspondent, however, reported that at least three people were also washed away by the storm in the day.
Dead bodies were recovered later on and identified as Minara Begum, 35 and her daughter Marium Nessa, 10 and Mahfuza Begum, 47 from Noakhali's Hatiya upazila.
Abul Hasnat, the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Hatiya, has told Samakal.
