The dead body of Nurjahan Begum, the editor and publisher of weekly magazine Begum, has been buried at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Dhaka today.
Earlier the dead body of Nurjahan Begum was taken at Central Shaheed Minar in the capital to pay respect.
Nurjahan Begum was died while undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital.
According to family sources, the 92-year-old women’s magazine editor breathed her last at Square Hospitals around 9:45am today.
Flora Nasrin, elder daughter of Nurjahan Begum, told Samakal that her mother died this morning at the hospital while undergoing treatment there.
Nurjahan Begum was admitted to the hospital with respiratory problems on May 4 while she was on life support since May 7.
Nurjahan Begum, the pioneer of country’s woman journalism, was born on June 4, 1925. She is a daughter of prominent journalist Mohammad Nasiruddin, editor of Bangla literary journal Saogat.
She was awarded the Begum Rokeya Padak in 1997 and the Ekushey Padak in 2011.
