This killing is to demoralise police: Home boss

Militants killed Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Babul Akter, superintendent of police of Dhaka police headquarters, to demoralise the police, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said.

The minister came up with the remark while addressing the reporters during visiting the Chittagong residence of the police official Babul Akter on Sunday afternoon.

The home boss also feared that the murder of Babul Akhtar's wife Mitu in the port city could be an act of militant revenge.

The minister called the murder ‘unacceptable’ and promised to track down the killers to be exposed to justice as they virtually waged a war against the state and people of the country.

"Babul Aktar (now posted in Dhaka) is an honest and efficient police officer and his wife Mitu is an innocent woman," added the home boss.

 Mitu, 32, was stabbed and shot dead by unidentified assailants at the port city's GEC intersection on her way to drop her son to school around 7.00am today.
