SC publishes full verdict on Mir Quasem's appeal

The Supreme Court (SC) has published its full verdict that upheld death sentence for Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali for war crimes.  

The 244-page verdict has been published on the website of the SC after the judges including the chief justice signed it on Monday noon, said Additional SC Registrar Sabbir Fayez.

Earlier on March 8, a five-member Appellate Division bench of the SC led by Chief Justice SK Sinha upheld the war tribunal’s death sentence awarded to the Jamaat leader. 

On November 2, 2014, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 awarded death penalty to the Jamaat moneyman for his crimes against humanity in Chittagong during the 1971 Liberation War.

On November 30, 2014, the defence lawyers of the war criminal appealed in the apex court challenging the verdict and sought acquittal.
