Al-Qaeda condemns SP’s wife killing: SITE

Ansar al-Islam, the Bangladesh division of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), condemned the killing of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Babul Akter, superintendent of police of Dhaka police headquarters, saying it is impermissible under Islam.

Referring a statement of Ansar al-Islam, SITE intelligence group disseminated the news on Friday.  

The group also alleged that the Islamic jihadists were blamed for the June 5 murder in Chittagong as part of a ploy.

Earlier in the day, the law enforcers launched a countrywide crackdown on militants in the face of series of targeted attacks.

On Sunday morning, Mitu, 32, was stabbed and shot dead by unidentified assailants at the port city's GEC intersection on her way to drop her son to school.
