Avijit’s 'killer' in CCTV footage

The youth, who was killed in a gunfight with detectives in Dhaka’s Khilgaon area early Sunday, was the killer of science writer and blogger Avijit Roy, police said.

He was an active member of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team and was seen in CCTV footage when blogger Avijit Roy was killed last year, police also said.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) released the CCTV footage today. About the footage, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP Masudur Rahman said, “A person was following Avijit and his wife Rafida Ahmed Banya at the crime scene and that person was Sharif alias Shakib.” 

Sharif was killed in an alleged gunfight with the detectives in Khilgaon of Dhaka early today.
