PSC, JSC exams to continue

The government on Monday did not approve a proposal to start primary terminal examination in class eight instead of class five.

Cabinet division, in a regular meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, took the decision.

Briefing media after the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam said, "PSC and JSC exams will continue until Cabinet makes a final decision on the matter."

“The proposal will be resubmitted before the Cabinet after a thorough assessment. The current system will remain until the new proposal is approved by the Cabinet,” Shafiul Alam said.

On June 21, Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Md Mostafizur Rahman Fizar told journalists that the government would not take the primary terminal examination of the class five students from this year.

Earlier on May 18, the government extended the primary education up to class eight from the previous grade five and had taken it under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
