DMP boss vows to protect citizens ahead of Eid

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia on Tuesday vowed to prevent evil activities of criminals, including muggers and robbers, including the notorious ‘Oggyan’ and ‘Malam’ parties, in the capital at any cost, reports the UNB.

 

“I promise that we will prevent evil efforts of muggers, robbers, oggyan and malam party taking cooperation from the city dwellers at any cost,” the DMP Commissioner said at a traffic awareness program at Mohakhali bus stand.

 

“Nobody will be allowed to keep the people hostage,” he added.

 

He, however, said that it is not possible for police alone to prevent militants, criminals like muggers and oggyan and malam party. He sought cooperation from all in this regard.

 

The DMP chief said police has been hunting to arrest the muggers’ gangs active in the capital.

 

“Intelligence agencies have been working using technology to track down  the dens of criminals, including muggers, oggyan and malam party, as well as their ring leaders and patrons,” the DMP Commissioner added.  

 

Police and detectives have already arrested around 200 members of ’oggyan and malam party’ as the law enforcers started their drive against them two months back.

 

He said traffic movement on Dhaka-Tangail Road will remain smooth. All possible efforts have already been taken to protect lives and properties.
