Verdict for 8 Jamalpur war crimes accused today

The verdict of war crimes allegations against eight men from Jamalpur, including a former Islami Bank director, will be delivered today.
 
A three-member International Crimes Tribunal headed by Justice Anwarul Haque, on Sunday fixed the date for delivering the judgment.

Justice Shahinur Islam and Justice Mohammad Suhrawardi are the two other members of the bench.

The accused are former Islami Bank director Sharif Ahmmed alias Sharif Hossain, Md Ashraf Hossain, Md Abdul Mannan, Md Abdul Bari, ‘Harun’, Md Abul Hashem, advocate Md Shamsul Haq alias ‘Badar Bhai’, and SM Yusuf Ali.
 
Of them, Adv Shamsul Alam and Yusuf Ali are now in jail while the others are fugitive.

On June 19, closing the law-point arguments from both sides in the trial, the ICT kept pending its verdict for any day.

A total of 40 witnesses have testified before the court during the trial.

Police arrested Shamsul and Yusuf Ali from different parts of Jamalpur following arrest warrants issued by the tribunal on March 3, 2015 against the eight war crimes accused.
