What's inside the Kalyanpur militants’ den

Although the so-called ‘Jahaj Building’ in Kalyanpur’s road number 5, where police claim to have busted a militant den Tuesday morning, remains cordoned off, police in the evening released a cache of photographs from inside the 4th floor flat where the operation took place, reports the UNB.

 

The chilling images point to an ascetic life for the would-be terrorists inside the ‘mess’ where 9 of them were killed by a special squad of police, while 2 others were taken into custody.

 

The images show the militants’ overarching inclination towards the so-called Islamic State, the Middle Eastern death cult that has urged Muslims to pledge allegiance to them and take up violent jihad. IS flags hang on windows, one can be seen strewn on the floor like a throw.

 

A good number of jihadist books were also found at the flat, alongside HSC exam materials. Police had earlier said the 9 killed were all aged 20-25. It appears from one image that the militants put fire to some books/papers/cash.

 

There were lots of rucksacks scattered about the apartment, including one branded Wilson that is exactly the type carried by one of the attackers in Gulshan on July 1.
