Killing foreigners not Jihad: Syed Ashraf

Pointing to militants and deadly attacks in the country in recent times, Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam today said, 'You cannot establish Islam killing some of the foreigners and conducting attacks.'

 

The minister also the senior Awami League leader said this while addressing a rally in the capital on the day.

 

Jubo League organized the rally.

 

On July 1 evening, seven gunmen stormed the Holey Artisan Bakery in Dhaka and opened fire and took around 40 people, including restaurant staff and guests -- both locals and foreigners -- hostage.

 

Twenty hostages -- nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi American and two Bangladeshis -- were killed in the terror attack on the night.

 

Four persons including two policemen have been killed, on the other hand, when miscreants attacked on policemen at the entrance of Sholakia in Kishoreganj district on July 7 morning.
