Moudud has to vacate his house, ACC case quashed

Senior BNP leader Moudud Ahmed will have to vacate his Gulshan residence where he has been living for the last 30 years using the name of his brother.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday scrapped a High Court verdict that had instructed authorities to transfer the title of entry of the property to his brother Monjur Ahmad.

It also quashed a graft proceeding filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against Moudud and his brother Monjur Ahmed on charge of land grabbing.

The order came as the Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha led five-member appellate division bench accepted petitions by RAJUK and the State challenging the High Court verdict.

Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) can take steps to take possession of the land following the verdict, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said.

Rajuk had appealed against High Court verdict that directed to transfer the title of entry of the property.

Moudud had appealed against a High Court order that upheld a lower court charge acceptance of the graft case.
