N. Korean diplomat leaves Dhaka

North Korean diplomat, Han Son Ik, who was asked to leave the country for his illegal activities violating diplomatic norms, has left Dhaka today.

 

The diplomat left the country this noon.

 

Earlier the authorities of foreign ministry have asked the North Korean diplomat to leave the country.

 

Han Son Ik was first the secretary of the North Korean mission in Dhaka.

 

Customs officials, earlier, seized a consignment of tobacco and electronic products in the capital's Kamalapur in July this year.

 

Customs office sources said the North Korean diplomat purportedly brought the items without following due process.

 

Later, in this connection, The National Board of Revenue (NBR) wrote to the foreign ministry to take appropriate action against the diplomat.

 

Earlier, Bangladesh government also ordered a North Korean diplomat to leave the country after discovering $1.4 million of unauthorized gold in his bag when he arrived at Dhaka's airport in  March last year.

 

The ministry had also summoned the North Korean Ambassador Ri Song Hyon and gave him a 72-hour deadline to send the diplomat, Son Young Nam, back home, at that time.
