Militants, terrorists to be eliminated from country: Nasim

Awami League presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim today said that the militants and terrorists would be eliminated forever from the sacred soil of Bangladesh, BSS reports.

"The state will be run with strong hands so that enemies of the country and its people could not unleash attacks. The conspirators would not also be spared," he said.

Nasim said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organised by Dhaka South City Awami League (AL) at Mohanagar Natyamancha at Gulistan Square in the city condemning the series and simultaneous bomb attacks in 63 districts across the country on this day (August 17) in 2005.

The senior Awami League leader said, "Various conspiracies have been started at a time when the country has been marching ahead towards progress and prosperity in the community of nations. We will eliminate forever the militant and terrorist forces under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. No compromise with the anti-liberation forces."

Dhaka South City Awami League president Abul Hasnat presided over the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Awami League joint general secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni, organising secretaries AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, agriculture and cooperatives affairs secretary Dr Abdur Razzak and Dhaka South City AL general secretary Shahe Alam Murad.

Nasim said, "BNP speaks about democracy. But, there is no existence of democracy in their politics. They had killed Father of the Nation along with his family members in the name of democracy, tried to kill Sheikh Hasina 19 times including that of the August 21 grenade attack of 2004 and carried out nationwide series bomb attacks. People of the country now could understand what sort of democracy they want. So, democracy should be retained in the country by eliminating them."

Calling upon the party leaders-workers to get united taking a tough stance, the AL presidium member said, "You should have to be more strong. Conspirators should be resisted with united efforts. They should not be spared. The root of all conspiracies, BNP-Jamaat combine, should be defeated in the 2019 national polls."

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said, "Begum Khaleda Zia has postponed her false birthday's programme to safeguard herself from public wrath and condemnation. But, she has given a lame excuse of not celebrating her birthday this time taking into consideration the cause of party leaders-workers and flood-hit people. Like many previous occasions, she has resorted to blatant lies."
