Pass rate, GPA-5 go up in Ctg

The pass rate and the GPA-5 achievers in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been increased in Chittagong Board.
The pass rate is 64.60% this year while it was 63.49% in the previous year.
A total of 2,253 students secured GPA-5 when 2,129 students achieved GPA-5 last year under the Board.
Md Mahbub Hasan, examination controller of the Chittagong Board, has briefed media about the result, this noon.
The total pass rate in this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations is 74.70 percent, which is 5.10 percent higher than that of the previous year.
Some 8,99,150 students have passed this year's HSC and its equivalent examinations while a total of 58,276 examinees obtained Grade Point Average (GPA)-5.
Meanwhile, some 25 educational institutions witnessed a zero pass rate this year against last year's 35.
The pass rate in the HSC and equivalent exams last year was 69.60 percent where some 7,38,872 students passed the examination.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid handed over the copy of the results to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gono Bhaban on Thursday Morning.
Later, the education minister disclosed the pass rate.
The minister formally announced the results at a press conference at his ministry around 1:00pm.
