Militant Sabur remanded for attempt to kill publisher

A Dhaka court has placed Abdus Sabur alias Samad alias Raju on a six-day remand in a case filed in connection with an attempt to kill publisher Ahmedur Rashid Tutul.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Kaisarul Islam passed the order on Sunday.

Detective Branch Inspector Bahauddin Farooki, also investigation officer of the case, produced Sabur before the court and sought a ten-day remand.

Earlier in the day, police arrested the alleged masterminds of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan murder and attempted killing of another publisher Ahmedur Rashid Tutul from Tongi railway station area in Gazipur.

Sabur was involved in the murder attempt on publisher and blogger Ahmedur Rashid Tutul and killing of Jagriti Prokashoni owner Dipan, police said.
