Comilla University student burnt in explosion dies

A female student of Comilla University, who suffered burn injuries during an explosion in her Comilla hostel last month, has died.

Fahmida Hasan Nisha, a student of Economics Department of the university, succumbed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early Monday, said Partha Sankar Paul, residential physician of the burn unit of DMCH.

She had been undergoing treatment for last two weeks at the burn unit of DMCH while 55 percent of her body was burnt, he said.

Nisha was injured in an explosion at the Proshanti Chhatri Nibas, located near Comilla University, on August 23.
Police, however, had suspected the explosion was caused by some ‘high-power liquid explosives’.

Nisha’s father Abu Hasan is a Union Parishad Secretary hailed from Askina village under Kosba upazila in Brahmanbaria.
