Zia Charitable Trust graft: Khaleda allowed to crosscheck IO

The Supreme Court has allowed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to cross examine the investigation officer of Zia Charitable Trust corruption case Harunur Rashid.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Thursday.

Harunur Rashid, also deputy commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission, had given his deposition to the trial court as the 32th and last witness of the case.   

The order came after hearing two separate leave to appeal petitions filed by Khaleda Zia challenging a High Court verdict that cleared the way for running the trial proceedings of the case at the trial court.
