HC stays BTRC notices to switch from Citycell

The High Court has stayed two notices issued by the telecoms regulator asking the subscribers to switch from Citycell to other operators.

The High Court bench of Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan gave the order on Thursday after hearing a petition by the mobile phone operator.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) issued the notices on July 31 and August 17, where it advised subscribers to switch from Citycell.

Citycell's counsel Mostafizur Rahman said the HC issued a ruling asking the authorities concerned of the government and the BTRC to explain why the two notices should not be declared illegal.
